The first fortnight
Before they arrive
Set up a crate, a bed, food and water bowls, and choose one quiet room to be their base. Buy the food they are already eating and change it gradually if you want to switch.
Day one
Keep it calm. Let them explore one room, offer water, and take them outside often. Expect an unsettled first night.
Toilet training
Outside after waking, after eating, after play, and every hour or so in between. Reward outdoors, ignore accidents indoors.
The first vet visit
Book it for within [[X]] days of arrival. Bring the records we send you.
When to call us
Any time. Refusing food for more than a day, persistent vomiting or diarrhoea, or lethargy all warrant a call to your vet and to us.
